Lane County Livestock Association – Youth Livestock Auction
For generations, the Lane County Livestock Association (LCLA) has helped connect local youth with opportunities to learn responsibility, leadership, and the value of hard work through agriculture. Each year, their Youth Livestock Auction brings together 4-H and FFA exhibitors, local businesses, families, and community supporters to celebrate the work young people have invested in raising and caring for their market animals.
What many people see on auction day is only the final step in a much larger journey. Months before the event, exhibitors commit themselves to caring for their animals, learning animal husbandry, managing expenses, and preparing to market their projects. As LCLA leadership explained, the experience goes far beyond raising livestock. It teaches communication, accountability, teamwork, and the confidence to present themselves and their projects to local businesses and buyers.
These lessons are part of what makes the auction so meaningful. The event helps young people develop real-world skills that will serve them long after their time in 4-H or FFA is over. According to the association, participants learn a strong work ethic, gain valuable business experience, and build relationships that often last a lifetime.
Behind the scenes, organizing an event of this scale requires year-round planning and coordination. The LCLA team is constantly looking for ways to improve the auction experience for exhibitors, buyers, and families. Over the years, Emerald Technology Group has partnered with the association to help support those efforts through technology that improves event operations and communication. When challenges arise, whether during planning or in the middle of a busy event week, Emerald provides responsive support that helps keep things running smoothly.
For LCLA, the relationship is about more than technology. It is about having a trusted partner who follows through, understands the importance of the mission, and helps remove obstacles so the focus can remain where it belongs: on the next generation of hardworking young people. As the organization continues to invest in local youth, Emerald is proud to support the people and programs that help build future leaders throughout Lane County.
